God calls us to be an integral part of his life. We are called to believe. We are called to live with him. We are called to be a part of the family. It is quite interesting to study the concept of participation which is used in the New Testament. It is all based on faith and trust. Then, in faith and trust, we are given very special tasks. {{2010_04_14.jpg }} **Spiritual Gifts** God calls us to be a part of him, to be a part of the family. There is the other image to describe this participation: we are the body of Christ. As his body we have different capabilities and different roles. God gives spiritual gifts to us to fulfill our roles. His gifts are particular or general talents or capabilities. Some can teach. Others can help. Again others have wisdom. Some are strong. Others are weak and soft, but they are sensitive to the environment. Some see things well, others do things well. We all need to work together! Spiritual gifts are part of the calling of God. When he calls people, he provides the right mixture of spiritual gifts. He enables us to do what he wants us to do. And we will find our purpose when we start to move forward in his spirit and in his will. {{ 2010_04_14_2.jpg}} **God's Trace in our Life** But God is doing more than giving gifts. He is there himself with his love, his wisdom and his power. When we follow God's calling, we will see the trace of his presence in our life. God can open doors for us. And God can close doors for us. When the apostle Paul went onto his missionary journeys, he tried to go into Asia. But he was led into Europe at that time. God has a time for everything and he has plans for us. These plans can be open, but sometimes they are quite specific. God calls us and then he opens a path for us. Sometimes this path can be straight and direct, at other occasions the path can lead us to loop ways and detours.
